Novig vs ProphetX

Novig and ProphetX are peer-to-peer sports exchanges that both became CFTC-designated contract markets in June 2026. On both you can take a posted price or set your own, and you trade against other users rather than a house. The split is mostly fees and eligibility: Novig charges nothing on pre-game straight trades but requires you to be 21, while ProphetX takes 2% of net winnings and accepts users from 18, or the local age of majority if that is higher.

Which one fits you

Novig

  • Pick Novig if you mostly trade before games start: pre-game straight trades carry no fee.
  • Pick Novig if you want to withdraw to Venmo.

ProphetX

  • Pick ProphetX if you're in Arizona or Michigan, where Novig isn't available. ProphetX's site names only Nevada as excluded.
  • Pick ProphetX if you'd rather pay fees only when you win: on straight trades its 2% fee applies to net gains in each market.

Regulation

The CFTC designated ProphetX LLC on June 11, 2026, and ProphetX also runs its own registered clearinghouse. Novig's exchange, Ludlow Exchange, LLC, was designated on June 16, 2026, and clears through Bitnomial Clearinghouse. Novig has retired its old sweepstakes currencies, and accounts now hold real money only.

Fees

ProphetX charges 2% of net gains per market on straight trades, and parlays carry a separate fee. Novig charges only takers, using coefficient × price × (1 − price). Pre-game straight trades are free, and live trades cost 0.06, or $1.50 on 100 contracts at 50 cents. Futures also cost 0.06, except golf and tennis, and parlays include a 0.10 fee in the quoted price.

Who can join and where

Novig requires you to be 21 and is available everywhere except Arizona, Nevada and Michigan. ProphetX requires you to be over 18 or your state's age of majority, whichever is higher, and its site says it is not operating in Nevada. Both received cease-and-desist letters from Connecticut in September and from Ohio on October 2, and Missouri also sent one to Novig, which sued Missouri on October 16 to block enforcement.

Markets

Both focus on sports. Novig lists winners, spreads, totals, player props and futures across major US leagues plus golf, tennis, soccer and MMA, but its parlays can't be sold before they settle. ProphetX offers moneylines, spreads and totals with live trading, player props and parlays, and it adds F1 and NASCAR. ProphetX parlays are matched against third parties, not ProphetX.

Deposits and withdrawals

Novig charges 3% on card and Apple Pay deposits, while bank transfers and crypto are free. It pays out to bank, debit card or Venmo, with a $10 minimum. ProphetX has a $10 minimum deposit and doesn't accept credit cards, and wire withdrawals start at $5,000.
